Book Cover Design & Layout

A full color book cover design for any standard sized book, whether softcover, hardcover, or dust jacket—plus a full interior layout with limited photos or illustrations. Includes Kindle or e-book layout. This option is ideal for self-published novelists or children’s book authors who perform their own copyediting.

Copyediting

I will perform a thorough copyedit (or line edit) of your book (usually with a bar of dark chocolate and an S. Pellegrino at hand). This examination includes spelling, grammar, and typo corrections. You may determine how much or how little of the book you wish checked. The price is $.02 per word. Contact me for a quote.

Note: This is not a structural or developmental edit in which plot and story structure are examined. This is more of a high-level proofread.

Game Designer's Book Cover Design & Layout

A full color book design for a role-playing game rulebook or supplement. RPG books have special needs, and I have specific experience in this area. I will perform the cover design, interior layout, including placing of illustrations, charts, diagrams, maps, and insets. Copyediting and customized licensed artwork are additional. I will design some elements for inclusion, but in most instances additional artwork will need to be purchased.

Note that this layout will take longer than other projects and will require fairly extensive interaction with the game designer. Contact me to discuss further details.

The end result will be a book with all the magic of a D&D spellbook!

Questions about graphic design

I anticipate that most book covers will take 7-10 business days to complete once I begin. A good book cover is simply not something that should be rushed. If you need a cover quickly, contact me to see if I can prioritize your order in the queue.

Over twenty years. My earliest experience was in the late nineties when I designed graphics for several websites. Since then, I have designed book covers, t-shirts, buttons, posters, etc. I’ve also been an oil painter for the past ten years and those skills help me in my design work.

My style is largely classic with intricate textural elements. I like to create designs with subtle details that might only be noticed on repeated viewings. I don’t typically design covers with three-dimensional renderings and photographic elements. While that design style is very trendy—it’s very easy to slap some text on top of a photograph!—I imagine if you’re here, you’re here for something different. I will endeavor to provide that.
